Great experience fishing with Captain John and his team. They were very knowledgeable about where to catch fish, they worked hard to make sure we had bait on our hooks and if the fish weren’t biting we boogied off to a new spot. We also enjoyed chatting with Captain John and his deckhand….i believe his name was Kyle. They were a fun crew. We will definitely be booking with Freebird again next year when we return to Gulf Shores!

Free bird charters are amazing to fish with. We had such a fun trip and caught a lot of fish. Chastity is so much fun as the deck hand although she is a captain. she deck hands with John. They know how to find the fish. They are great with families who want to fish. We took our cooler and some snacks and had a blast!

We booked a 4 hour trip for sheepshead for my wife, 2 kids and myself. We had an absolutely amazing day. Capt John put us on the fish from the first cast to the end. He poked fun and treated us just like family which is exactly the way we hoped it would be. I absolutely recommend Freebird Charters and plan to use them several times in the future. We fished with Captain John on spring break. He really put us on the fish and we loaded a cooler. Captain John has a great sense of humor and was knowledgeable where the fish are. We had a great time and will book again when we go back to Gulf Shores.

On a chilly day in December, Captain John and Chasity guided our small group of intrepid anglers for a half day. We were in town for a soccer tournament, and had an extra day to explore. Capt John was very easy to communicate with from my first call into him, all the way through our booked trip. We wanted to chase a few different species, but they wouldn’t all cooperate so we focused on sheepshead, which put up an outsized fight that will probably surprise you. We each managed to catch one or more in the initial hours of the trip, but we knew the bite was tough because of particularly cold weather and extra swift current. We were having a great time telling stories anyhow! I could tell Capt John was going to dial up some late-inning heroics because he’s first and foremost an angler. Giddy like a kid, he pulled up to a spot that looked particularly juicy. We marked fish on the graph right away and his energy was high. First cast, we hooked up. Next cast was a big bite too! And from there, the action continued for another hour straight … extending beyond our booked trip time. Everybody was having a blast hooking into feisty sheepshead every few minutes. And I mean everybody! Capt John’s enthusiasm and passion for fishing are contagious. I really enjoy fishing with people who struggle with just “one more cast” like I do. With tired arms and a full cooler, John and Chasity suggested a fish fry to cap off the day. We were very hungry and couldn’t think of a better way to wrap up such a successful trip. It turned out that the second half of our adventure was every bit as good as the first. Meeting back at the Freebird Charters compound, we celebrated with cold beverages and learned some great tricks for filleting the fish. Feeling like honorary members of the Captain’s family, we were welcomed to the table to enjoy endless freshly breaded and fried pieces of fish we had just caught. Absolutely delicious and amazing fish. We devoured a huge platter of cajun french fries and as well as okra. Stuffed and deeply satisfied with such a wonderful day, we parted ways with a very full day of memories and experiences. I have fished with guides all over the country, and from Alaska to Belize. This impromptu “catch and cook” will always rank highly. Book a trip with Freebird if you want to spend some time with a real outdoorsman, and real good guy/guide/chef/bartender.

We went out Wednesday morning with the Captain and Deckhand Kyle. They helped me constantly and my husband was able to enjoy himself and catch lots of great fish. I caught a small sting ray that was beautiful to see and we nicely set him free. Captain knew all the great fishing spots and the trip was just beautiful. Will definitely do again

Had the opportunity to take my son and my dad on a fishing trip while on vacation at Orange Beach. Captain John was very helpful and ensured we all caught plenty of fish. We are already looking forward to the next trip as this provided a great memory for our family.
